Baby Yoda Legs, Kermit Screams, & Itty Bitty Noses

Howdy. How're you holding up? Are you doing all the things? Workin' hard, playing hard? I hope so, but if not that's OK, too. Come on in, I have a big virtual couch with squashy pillows with your name on it. Take a rest, take a breather. You're allowed to fall apart a little here. You're allowed to be a warrior, a potato, or anything in-between.

Know why?

Because you are enough.

You are enough.

So if you need to turn off the news or take a break from social media or quit the internet entirely for your own sanity and self-care, then Sweet Stay Puft, do it. Don't let anyone, no matter how well-intentioned, shame you into self-harm. Put the oxygen mask on yourself first, THEN you can help others.

And while you're here resting up, let's look at some of the happy, ridiculous, and geeky things that made me smile this week:

*****

The FB group Weird Second-Hand Finds continues to never disappoint. Just look at Crystal's thrift-store find:

:D

DC Comics released 12 free coloring pages you can download by 3 different artists, and I love these art styles! I'm especially chuffed because I've been a fan of both Zullo & Uminga for years:

Here's the download link for the full-size images. If you color any please tag me or share on FB so I can see!

If you're lucky enough to have the Baby Yoda doll by Mattel, then here's a handy leggy tutorial:

I swear it looks happier in the "After." I know it's just the camera angle, but dang that's impressive.

D'awww. I definitely see the advantage if you're dressing it up in baby clothing, haha. Head over to BabyYodaWonderland on Instagram to see more.

This might be an old one by Obvious Plant, but it seemed appropriate after the Baby Yoda legs:

:D

I'm not the only one who wants to design my own version for gag gifts, right?

*****

I'm always looking for new ways I can use my Cricut, so this is next on my list to try:

This tutorial on Cosplay Central will show you how to use your Cricut to score designs on craft foam! I've tried this freehand before on my Rose Bracers, but the Cricut can do vastly more intricate designs. I'm thinking of trying something to look like a carved leather wall-hanging. Maybe like a map of Middle Earth? Any other suggestions?

Julianna M. shared this on the Replica Prop Forum FB page: Just for kicks she made her very own LEGO Batman figure that's two and a half feet tall:

This brings me great joy.

He's even fully articulated, and comes apart like a real LEGO figure! Now all he needs is a LEGO lobster on a plate.

*****

Hobbit fans, this video is absolutely incredible. Stick with it, the end result is SO worth three minutes of your time:

Jaw: Dropped

*****

This next video is from a million years ago - that's how long it's been since April, right? - but it's just SO ridiculous and I bet you could use these giggles:

Stick with it 'til at least 2:30, that's when it starts getting really funny - and then stick with it 'til the end, because her final Dramatic Hamster poses are hysterical.

*****

And finally, your peaceful moment of "OMG IT'S SO FLUFFY I'M GONNA DIE!"

The Pallas Cat Gryphon by Pixxus

EEEEE!

Really tempted to stick some cosplay wings on Suki now.

Happy weekend, friends! Remember to be kind out there, to yourself and to others.

PS. In case you don't have your own Baby Yoda from Mattel - did you know it's only $25? Because I didn't. And now I need one. (Hint hint, John.)

Star Wars "The Child" Soft Figure

I can't sew, of course, but I still want to make it some legs and then dress it up in various cosplays. Can't you just imagine a Baby Yoda Ghostbuster? With a teeny proton pack? Ermergersh.

  4. I could not have bought that sampler. A lot is TWO WORDS! I don't know how it got started with alot, or worse yet, allot, but I wish it would go away.

    2. I'd forgotten about Allie Brosh's versatile alot: thanks. I dunno, though. In this case: "we've been through alot" sounds a bit squishy, and hard on the poor alot.

I would have been tempted to buy the sampler and edit it. :p

  5. The first paragraph had me thinking: what about a warrior potato? And then I had a great mental image of a Mr. Potato-Head with a medieval helmet. I just wanted to share that with you.

    1. Oh, thank you for that vision!

Maybe a Viking helmet, with slots for horns like his other body parts?

    2. "Warrior potato"? So, basically a Sontaran, then? ;)

  8. Omg that Jamie French video reminded me that I saw it originally on Kristen Hampton’s page. If you don’t know her, you should look up her product testing Tuesday Facebook videos. Trust me

  9. How does that Yoda not come with legs? Yoda has legs! With the cutest little feet ever on the ends! What were they thinking?

    1. Having bought the Mattel version, my guess is he stands better without. His molded head is kinda heavy and having a flat bottom with bean bag filling does make it easier to keep him upright. Plus his legs are covered up by his robey robe on the show most of the time. So it seems like they chose function over form. I do miss his little feet though. Despite it's small size, I love the fact that Disney's plush version has a complete body. :)

    2. I have the Hasbro version, and he has feet. He came with a blue one-eyed frog and a bone broth bowl, too.

  10. Palls Cat = swoon! As for wings on Suki - I'd like to see pictures of your trying sans the blood letting.

  11. That Hobbit hole is so cool! (although I personally prefer my dioramas and books separate, for reading convenience...)

For anyone else who looked at that leaf punch for producing miniature leaves and went "ooooh!" but had a hard time getting to exactly the right spot in the video to ID it, I think it's: U-Star UA93000 Graphic Embossing, Model-specific Leaf Maker (UA93001~93004) - it's available on aliexpress, but I've never bought from there before and am trying to work up the nerve to...

There's also a similar product available from a different manufacturer: http://www.greenstuffworld.com/en/inicio/358-miniature-leaf-punch-punches-dark-green.html

(no affiliation with any of these, just: ooooh.)

    1. I've bought a number of things from AliExpress. Haven't had any problems, but you have to be patient as everything ships from China.

  13. I want to make Harry Potter robes for my Baby Yoda!! He has been the best part of my year!

  14. Thanks Jen and John for being ... amazing, and for helping us keep some happy in our day no matter what. Most of the time I feel like I'm doing great, and then ... stuff hits and I feel like I'm not coping at all. EpBot makes me feel like that's OK and I'm with friends who get it and it's like an internet hug. So, thank you! x

  15. I just, that Hobbit hole, I, I mean, WOW! No words.
