In an effort to focus on the good among the bad - to focus on the helpers - here's a quick shout-out to some of the artists I know who are donating their profits to help with Australia's fire relief/recovery efforts. If you know of more artists/craftsfolk I should add, please link them in the comments!

Here's her Etsy link to purchase. She's already raised $700!

See Chris' post here for details on which organizations she's donating to (there are 2), then head to TeePublic to browse all her designs. There are lots more great Disney shirts there!

Sorry I didn't list all the different Australian charities everyone is donating to (it was getting hard to keep track), but they're listed in each artist's post or sales page, so be sure to do your own research. Also let me know in the comments any artists I missed, since I'm sure there are plenty more.
As a final note, please remember it's OK if you can't watch the news. I can't, either. You don't have to look the horror in the face to help others and spread hope. So please, take care of yourselves first, and then do what you can, as you can. Even if it's something as small as sharing some sweet koala art in your feed.
I love you guys! Sending you extra squishy virtual internet hugs tonight.
What a wonderful way to spread some hope and love during such a sad time. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteNutmeg and Arlo has some stickers (and maybe enamel pins?) to raise money for Australia. Also, FaeCrate, a bookish sub box, is hosting a big giveaway with proof of donation on their IG. It has several artists, authors, and bookish merch shops donating prizes.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing! The stickers are so cute. I just bought a few to give to friends
DeleteThank you for linking this!
ReplyDeleteThere are a couple crochet and cross stitch patterns that are doing this too.

CraftyJewelsSews on Facebook. She’s making DARLING koala keychains to raise money for the fire victims. Kangaroos too!
ReplyDeleteOh The Post (she is on FB and IG), has a special collection up for sale right now (already the 3rd one she's done, a 4th will be coming). She makes jewelry put of recycled stamps.
ReplyDelete100% of the proceeds from these special collections are being donated, split between two charities (Red Cross and WWF).
Shipping is free within Canada, and very reasonable otherwise.
Jen, thank you for posting this. My husband and I were in Australia for three weeks this past September and it breaks my heart to see the news about all of the wildfires now.
ReplyDeleteIts hard and horrible to watch - I'm not in a very effected area but my town is choked with smoke. I'd imagine that some of your Aussie readers are still withour power or internet. I feel overwhelmed by loss and grief but the rally of the international community, especally of artists, musicians and crafters eases my hurt heart.
ReplyDeleteMy sister designed this sticker for the company we work for. 100% if the proceeds from the sticker through Jan 20 go to WIRES and CFA. https://www.dieharddice.com/products/die-hard-dice-sticker-koala
ReplyDeleteI've been eyeing the "one little spark" Figment shirt ever since you first posted about it, and now this tipped me over to buying one! Thanks for sharing these, Jen!
ReplyDeleteHey Jen (I'm from WA so I'm Ok), you need to add Erstwilder to your list. https://www.erstwilder.com/
ReplyDeleteFrom someone breathing the smoke on an almost daily basis, albeit at a safe distance from any fires … thank you doesn't begin to convey the full message, but thank you <3
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. And an important reminder that the unprecedented scope of these fires is due to the systematic ecological changes happening from climate change. We will see more fires and natural disasters like this with greater frequency and size in the coming years unless we demand shifts in our energy policies. Corporate Accountability, Sunrise Movement, and Movement Generation are all great places to start. This article ("How to Stop Freaking out and Tackle Climate Change: https://www.nytimes.com/2020/01/10/opinion/sunday/how-to-help-climate-change.html) outlines more good options. I know that pushing for systemic change can feel a lot scarier than giving emergency relief donations, but the reality is that more and more people and animals will be harmed if we don't gather our courage up to demand that politicians and corporations be called to account for this kind of ecological catastrophe.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jen.
ReplyDeleteHey Jen, I'm working on an Australian animal series at the moment. Prints & cards won't be available for a while, but the rehab effort will be ongoing so hopefully I will be able to get some things happening in the near future. In the meantime if anyone is interested they can keep in touch with a follow on instagram - dapperdogartist. Cheers from NSW Australia
