But wait, there's more! Would you believe a reader and her family were at the GKTW Village just a few days later? And they decided to go on a Figment hunt? So here's Elisabeth's two daughters in one of the Village playrooms:
Our Figgy's in a room with bright orange walls. This makes me happy.
I hope this starts a trend: I'd love to see a whole gallery of kids riding Figment!
And while we're talking rockin' dragons: after your response on the reveal post John and I've decided to try another one, so we can finalize and perfect the template to offer you guys. We plan to make the next dragon about 20% larger, so it fits older kids better, and we'll also do a different paint job, so it's not Figment-specific.
So here's my question, gang: what color should I paint the next dragon? Classic green? Smaug red and gold? Bubblegum pink? AAA I CAN'T DECIDE. Help me choose!
Why not make Discord? It probably wouldn't be too hard to do a Discord with your nifty template... And it would be awesome :D
ReplyDeleteMan, that is a wonderful place!
ReplyDeleteBurnt Orange with Teal accents...just a thought. Make it your own!
Luv ya guys - Ruth
Pete's Dragon. Green and Furry?
ReplyDeleteI LUUUUURV this idea!!!!
DeleteHow could it be anything other than orange and teal????
ReplyDeleteThis is so amazing! Every time I think you two are the most awesome folks... you out awesome yourselves.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy to know you (in an internet kind of way) and be inspired by you!!!
I think you should do Elliot. I think you guys can do that since Elliot is a bit bigger than Figment.
ReplyDeleteYou guys are awesome!!!
How about a nice bright blue Ravenclaw dragon?
ReplyDeletePaint it like Mushu! Or Falcor!
ReplyDeletered!
ReplyDeleteno...green!
no. something different like blue and purple!
no. wait.
puff the magic dragon green.
yeah. that's it. green.
(whatever you decide, it will be great!)
I think most of us that read John's update cried right along with him! What do you think you'll do with the next rocker? Donate it as well? The Gryffindor in me votes for red and gold.
ReplyDeleteI vote for a classic green-and-gold, because it's pretty and has broad appeal, which is nice since you're specifically working on making the template more adaptable/general for the appearance!
ReplyDeleteHey Jen! Can you include the information about Give Kids the World so that we can donate if we want to?! Thanks!
ReplyDeletehow about a blue/green/aqua dragon with silver highlights? pretty, soothing and different...water dragon?!
ReplyDeleteHow about a rainbow dragon? :)
ReplyDeleteI've always imagined dragons as shimmery gold.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing that story! And of course the pic.
ReplyDeleteFor the colors, Toothless black!
Have to agree with orange and teal!
ReplyDeleteJust a correction: those pictures show two of Elisabeth's daughters, not Elisabeth herself. The younger one is 11, the older one is 17. But yes, all three were very pleased with locating Figment.
ReplyDeleteAh, whoops! Thanks for letting me know - fixed that now. :)
Delete*chants with a paintbrush in each fist* RED AND GOLD! RED AND GOLD!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure whatever you choose will be amazing, but even this diehard Ravenclaw has a soft spot for red-and-gold dragons.
When I was little, the puff the magic dragon in my book was lots of gorgeous blues and green, like a mermaid. Probably because, he lived by the sea. That's my vote.
ReplyDeleteSmaug! Or Elliott.
ReplyDeleteJen, you and John are good things in this world!
ReplyDeleteI've been a super-fan of GKTW for a number of years now!! I donate to St. Jude Children's Hospital and also follow some other children's charities that have patients/clients that visit GKTW which is how I became aware of them. Such a totally awesome place and I am hoping to get down there to volunteer one day too. For those who are interested, they have a Facebook page (just search for Give Kids the World and it'll pop right up) and here is their website: www.givekidstheworld.org
ReplyDeleteI absolutely adore how Figment seems right at home. I'm throwing in my hat for a classic metallic dark red and gold dragon. :) Oooh, shiny!
REd and gold please or green with gold! Classic dragon colors!
ReplyDeleteFaith in humanity, restored. Stabbiness lessening.
ReplyDeleteSweet mother of Bowie, I love you guys with my whole heart. Or to use one of my favourite Brit-isms: I love the bones of you, the pair o' yous.
Cheers, thanks a lot, stay froopy,
Storm the Klingon
If you are going for a generic "dragon" look, then my vote would be for a green color with a gold or bronze overwash (because dragons should be slightly shimmery) with accents of gold or bronze to match. Maybe like this?
ReplyDeleteHowever, I realize that this paint job will be for a child's rocker, so I understand if you want more child friendly bright colors. :)
I tried to answer before but now I got all the ideas:
ReplyDeleteRainbow (iridescent even)
Valcor
Smaug
Any of the Game of Throne dragons
Cat pattern (tortie, tabbie, patches) in dragon colours
Have I mentioned iridescents?
Have you tried pour painting? That'd be neat.
Maleficent dragon please please!!!
ReplyDeleteDuh - teal and orange!
ReplyDeleteGold and purple...for a throwback to Figment.
ReplyDeleteChants: Green and gold! Green and gold!!
ReplyDeleteToothless? Or one of the others from How to Train Your Dragon?
ReplyDeleteI just love how you guys give back and do your best to make the world a little bit brighter and happier. You're the just best. :)
ReplyDeleteI'd vote for either red/gold (Smaug) or if you want classic green I'd envision is as a bright lime green with dark green accents.
How ambitious are you guys feeling? Maybe do the dragons from HP4? Chinese Fireball, Norwegian Ridgeback, Welsh Green, Swedish Short-Snout? (I am a little impressed with myself for rhyming all of those off from the top of my head.) (Nerd-alert!) (I am in good company here.)
ReplyDeleteI'd vote for green and gold, but I'm sure it will look amazing in any color.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great story! And Figment looks right at home in that room.
I've gotta vote for teal and orange...though a bubblegum pink dragon makes me smile.
ReplyDeleteELLIOT COLORS!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYes! Posting for the first time to suggest Elliot. Perfect for the older kids.
DeleteThat is so awesome, what a perfect use for Figgy! ;-) I vote for Toothless as well, complete with wing attachment.
ReplyDeleteAnother vote for Elliot from Pete's Dragon!! Such an underrated dragon, and Disney movie in general. M3
ReplyDeleteTeal with orange scales is what I would paint. :-D
ReplyDeletePinkie Welborne, 16
Indiana
A little late to the color suggestion party, but I vote royal purple with gold and silver accents. Just because I like purple. :)
ReplyDeleteYou guys are the best! Figgie looks as happy as his beautiful young rider! I know that whatever colors you come up with will be the perfect ones.
ReplyDeleteAs you guys are scaling up for an older child, do you think you could come up with a pattern for a member of AARP? ;)
-Zippy
Just a little idea that may have already come up but if you turned the tail fins the other way wouldn't that make it less likely to end up jabbing a kid in the back? I obviously don't know if it would be an easy change but it seems like it might be reasonable?
ReplyDeleteThe next one should totally be orange and teal.
ReplyDeleteViserion memorial rocker. That's probably not great for kids.
ReplyDeleteHappy Tears! Paint the dragon orange and teal, of course! :)
