Here's something probably only a few of you will find even remotely exciting, but *I* think it's awesome, so HUMOR ME: I've managed to get my mitts on the complete playlist from Toothsome's Chocolate Emporium!
Toothsome's is the new steampunk-themed restaurant and "dessert foundry" here in Orlando, and they play THE best collection of steampunk music I've ever heard. (You might remember how I raved over the music in my photo tour.) It's upbeat and jazzy and just plain fun. John and I've eaten at Toothsome's over half a dozen times now (I know, it's a hard life we lead,) and each time I hear new, fantastic songs, but Shazam hasn't always been able to identify them.
BUT NOW I KNOW ALL THE SONGS. Mwah-ha-haaa!
Before you go imagining an Ocean's 11-style heist, I should probably mention one of the managers very sweetly gave me the entire 3-page print out of their playlist.
Then I went the extra mile, and made a Youtube playlist of nearly every song on the list, IN ORDER. Aw yeah service! Have a chocolate milkshake while you're listening, and you're practically there.
Sadly there are some songs missing, because 2 of the albums weren't on Youtube. Still, you get 70 songs out of the 87, so not too shabby!
You can start listening here:
If you click over to the whole playlist you can see all the names, artists, and albums. I can tell you now, though: craziest thing on there? Chocobo's Theme from Final Fantasy 3. Ha! Someone had a lot of fun researching and compiling this thing.
For you completionists, here are the missing albums I couldn't find on Youtube:
Paris Nights, by 615 Music
I love Paris! Classic Gypsy Swing, by Café Chill Lounge Club
And finally, since I wanted them for me anyway, here are the other most heavily used albums from the playlist. Most are compilations, so it's still a wide variety of artists:
(Links to Amazon, where I just discovered you can stream it for free with Amazon Prime. Nice!)
White Mink, Vol 3 (also free to stream for Prime members!)
I hope this gives you guys some fun new tunes to explore! Now I'm fighting back the urge to throw a steampunk dessert party. :D
Wow! Just wow, can I just say how amazing you are to put this together and share?!
ReplyDeleteYessss, new study music, excellent! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteDon't fight the urge. Just be sure to take pictures for us.
ReplyDeleteHave you heard of Parov Stellar? They also call into the "electro swing" category and I love them. I can't wait to hear the playlist!
ReplyDeleteIf you are thinking of a Steampunk party I highly recommend this book. Lots of fun ideas in it. https://www.amazon.com/Steampunk-Tea-Party-Neo-Victorian-Underwater/dp/1440232954
ReplyDeletewow!!! having a blast listening to the playlist now!
ReplyDeleteYes!!! I just left my first visit to Toothsome an hour ago and immediately began searching where to find the incredible music they were playing there and "TADA!" I find your site, where just TODAY you share all (ok, minus 17 😉) of those amazing songs! I'm elated! This night certainly cannot get any better. Thank you so much for sharing this! I may very well join you in throwing my own dessert party once I get back home from vacation😁
ReplyDeleteOh, good, there's at least one song on the list by Tape Five. I was going to recommend them if you like the Electro Swing genre. I would also recommend Caro Emerald. She's amazing!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, thank you for the playlist. I look forward to listening to it when I get home from work.
Yes, yes, YES!!!! We just got back from our first family vacation, in which we went to Disney and hubby and I got to do a day at Harry Potter world and Toothsome (which is literally my happy place). We even made Toothsome our last stop for Sunday lunch before going home (N. Alabama). We were asking the servers about the music, but at the time the manager who knew the info wasn't present. You've made my heart so happy with this playlist, and hubby will be super excited with it as well.
ReplyDeleteTomorrow (Jan. 27) IS National Chocolate Cake Day, if you needed a reason to invite a few friends over on a Friday night to listen to your new play list.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately I do get a lot of "This video is not available" (of the first 20 titles only 3 worked). Is that due to right districtions because I am over in Europe? I would consider that highly unfair!!! I also want to hear great Steampunk music while sipping on my hot chocolate! *humpf*
ReplyDeleteOh no! Yes, it must be a regional issue, since I get the same thing with a lot of UK videos. :(
DeleteI AM COMING TO YOUR HOUSE FOR A STEAMPUNK DESSERT PARTY.
ReplyDelete(okay, not really, but boy would I like to. If invited, of course!)
This is so awesome.
ReplyDeleteYEY!!!!
ReplyDelete--Piper P from Washington State
::dances::
ReplyDeleteYup, the original video isn't available so I can't even get to the playlist. :( Can you give the "share" link that includes the playlist?
ReplyDeleteOh, can we have an Online Steampunk Dessert Party? Everybody gets to create their own Steampunk Dessert and shares the recipe and then we will all get to try new desserts!
ReplyDeleteThis is literally the playlist I've been waiting for all my life. I've been working productively for several hours now with it on. <3
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh. These are perfect! I think I have a new writing playlist...
ReplyDeletei had never heard of electro swing until last week when my 12 year old son introduced me to it! I'll have to share this with him. Very cool! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteAww snap. I can't even get over to the play list from that video because of being in Canada. Can you post the link to the play list and hopefully I can get some of them going?
ReplyDeletePoo, sorry to hear that! I just updated the post with a link to the playlist - hope that helps!
Deletei'm currently in the middle of making a Steampunk costume and now i have the perfect soundtrack for my crafting! You are awesome!
ReplyDeleteNo Steampunk Giraffe? But they're my favorite! Guess their style is a little different from electro swing...
ReplyDeleteI think they're on the one song from The Cog is Dead, since that was a collaboration - but yes, I was sad there wasn't more SPG, too!
DeleteOoh, thanks!
DeleteOMG! We were at Toothsome's just two weekends ago. It was an expensive lunch with huge servings, but it was worth every penny and minute of waiting. The music was great (I can't believe I didn't think to try to figure out what kind of music it was), and when Ms. Toothsome came around and talked with me about how my 16-year-old daughter's hair "grew" purple and green streaks, we were all in thrall. She was the absolutely most wonderful icing on an amazing experience. Thanks for the music list--I'm definitely downloading it!
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely! I love the Chocobo theme; it brings back a lot of gaming memories!
ReplyDeleteDuring dinner I also asked for a list and was only to take pictures of it. So happy you compiled them all and there are links to steam and buy them!
ReplyDeleteooooh, I'd love this on spotify...
ReplyDeleteI have a Pandora station that's heavily influenced by electro swing. One of my favorites is Caravan Palace (I have all three of their albums),which I see is on the Playlist. I'm sure I'll add a bunch of these to my station for even more goodness.
ReplyDeleteThanks for this! I already own everything from Abney Park. Looking forward to adding some more steampunky goodness!
ReplyDeleteI was looking at building this (after your post and off of your list) on Spotify. Are you able to put up the complete list of song since there are 17 missing from the YouTube channel? Or is it just all the songs missing from those two albums?
ReplyDeleteMissed this the first time around, but just found it when looking for the other post to link to Epbot. My seventh grade band son LOVED the music in the restaurant and this is perfect for us. Such a great resource. I thought I would have to hunt them down on my own.
ReplyDeleteHey there! I am also looking for the full playlist -- can you post your original notes? i.e. whatever pages you were given by the management? The youtube play list doesn't work very well in my country, and some of the Amazon links in your blog are broken now. The original list -- as a simple list -- would be very helpful to me. Photos or scans would be just fine if that's easier for you.
ReplyDeleteThis music list is good enough to listen. I think i have a new playlist from now on. Thank you sharing :)
ReplyDeleteJust was at chocolate emporium and loved the music. Really fit the atmpsphere well. A quick search and wala found the playlist here. Thank you so much for the efforts. The resteraunt has such great food not just dessert. Now a must goto every visit to universal studios.
ReplyDeleteI went the other day and heard Kitty Demon Rag by Katzenjammer playing! I came here to find the other songs they played. Thank you for the list, and I know the Kitty Demon Rag is floating around on YouTube. I also simply had to take a peek and see if the Cog is Dead was on their list. And I am delighted!
ReplyDeleteNow I can jam out on my trip home!
