My friend Amy found her prince at D23 last weekend:

A Chewie Beast! (Or Beastly Chewie?)
And that C3PO Lumiere is brilliant. Brilliant, I say!
(See what I did there?)
Later in the day, he was joined by Leia Belle:

So, so good.
They reminded me of some art I bought at a con a few months back - something I haven't had a chance to post yet:
HOW CUTE IS THIS?
And also kind of wrong, with poor frozen Han in the back window. Ha!
Kimberly Nedrow is the artist, but from what I can tell she has zero web presence. Zilch. Nada. (That's a low-quality scan of my own print up there.) It's uncanny; her business card just has an e-mail address and a phone number on it. A phone number. Like something out of the dark ages.
;)
Anyhoo, Kimberly, if by some chance you see this, I think I speak for us all when I say: please open an online store! I have a feeling more people are going to want this one.
Oh, and if you guys want more D23 cosplay pics, check out Amy's roundup over on Nerdist!

UPDATE: Rejoice, my friends, because that adorable print is now available on Etsy! Thanks to Kimberly for letting me know, and you guys be sure to follow her on Facebook for more.

I almost didn't click on on this because I thought it was going to be Isaiah Stephen's work (which showed up elsewhere on my RSS feed). But then I would have missed the cuteness. I second the call for Kimberly to have a web presence.
ReplyDeleteEvery time you post art, I am very, very sad that I have no money. I really need to start setting something aside for an "art budget."

ReplyDeleteThat Chewbacca is CRA-ZY! WOW!
ReplyDeleteReally cute.
ReplyDeleteBTW, have you heard about a new game show on GSN? It's called Steampunk'd and features makers who work with Steampunk design. First episode was designing a kitchen.
Oh my, Kimberly if you are reading this, please have an online presence in the future, I would very much like to GIVE YOU MY MONEY!
ReplyDeleteI found her on Facebook

James Hance did a Leia/Chewbacca/Beast print, but no ball outfit on Chewie...
ReplyDeleteHello, I'm Kimberly Nedrow. I'm so glad you like the artwork! That was my second convention ever and am glad to say I was received well. I have recently set up a Facebook for me as an official artist under my brand name Alex Worden. Here I post my new work and the conventions I plan on attending in the future. Please feel free to visit my page and I hope to see you again in the future.
