I like yours better, mostly for the facial hair--I think your beard is shaped more like his (theirs goes down too much on the sides), and John's got a very valid point on the eyebrows. :-)

ReplyDeleteI thought it was a coffee cup with the bottom half missing, but someone else guessed it was probably a glass of scotch or something, which would make more sense. ;)
DeleteI honestly do like your's better. When I saw the "official" one, I couldn't tell what he was holding. I think a contract would be better suited for The King. And a blue tie? I've never really paid attention to the color of his tie in any episodes, but I don't ever remember it being light blue. And why the absense of eyebrows? Bah, they should have just bought your design.

ReplyDeleteYeah, I definitely agree with everyone else. Your version is better. I mean, maybe their version matches the other Supernatural figures better, but yours definitely looks way more like Mark Sheppard and Crowley. And your angel blade is better than whatever it is they have theirs holding. A chocolate cupcake with vanilla icing? A really short cup of Starbucks coffee? A tiny pie? Like Kate above, I'm not too far in yet, so maybe I would automatically know if I'd watched all the episodes by now.

I assure those above, you would NOT know WTF crowley was holding if you had seen all the episodes. Because I have, and I have no idea what he's supposed to be holding. And I like yours better, Jen. If not for the eyebrows, then for the fact that he looks like he's yelling at someone. The official one looks like he's just strolling around the mall sipping his Starbucks.

ReplyDeleteIf the "official" version was on a shelf with a bunch of other figures - no box and no other SN characters around - I would not be able to identify it as Crowley. The Epbot version, with the angel blade and the "Get 'em, boys!" stance is instantly recognizable as The King. Jen Win!

The official "hand-in-the-pocket-stance" is totally Crowley, but your Crowley head (that sounds weird) is definitely better. The darker scruff looks too beardy, and, umm, eyebrows. They're needed.
ReplyDeleteGlass of scotch would make sense for the thing-in-the-hand, but all I'm seeing is a cupcake or half of a caramel macchiato. A contract would have been the better choice.
You're right about the hand in pocket stance. I think the body needs a darker tie, and the head of Jen's creation would make it perfect. If only there was a way to make the glass of scotch more recognizable.
DeleteWhen I see the Funco one, I keep thinking of Rufus from Bill and Ted's excellent adventure. Just lighten the hair a bit and fix whatever he's holding, and it would be a dead ringer.

DeleteAnd for my personal opinion is Jen's is better woot woot.. the Funco one got the actual hair color a little closer with it being a bit darker but on the whole Jen's yours freakin ROCKS :D (I am finally up to the 9th season yay me yay netflix yay SN!!!)
You know, another thing that's bothering me about the official figure it that they made Crowley all thin. It's like they've never seen Mark Sheppard, who is built like a fire plug. The body on yours is much closer to resembling the actor. Which I know is not really the point with the figures, but they should be at least recognizable. Which the official version isn't, really.

DeleteHey, "built like a fireplug" isn't a bad thing. It just means he's shortish, barrel chested and muscular. Not that he's overweight. Some folks just win the genetic lottery like that!
