Who's ready for another round of geeky art goodness?!
Here are my favorite finds this month:
Monkey Minion Press has a fun, punchy style with bold colors perfect for posters:
Most of their 12x18 prints are just $20, too. Nice!
I thought this one would be great in a pirate-themed nursery:
"Pirates For All Seasons" 12X18 print, $20
Next, an elegant owl for my steampunk friends:
"Baron Von Hoot" mini canvas print on wood, only $10!
TEN DOLLARS? That's it? C'mon, now.
(Check the link for more creepy/cute art, too.)
Of course, sometimes art is meant to be BIG:
Star Wars X-Wing Fighter by Media Graffiti Studio, big18x24 canvas print, $100
This would look awesome over your couch, admit it.
But if you need something a little smaller:
Millenium Falcon, 8.5X11 print $30
Really, really digging that watercolor style.
I still haven't seen My Neighbor Totoro (THANKS NETFLIX), but I'm *THIS CLOSE* to buying this art set anyway:
My Neighbor Totoro set by Big Bad Robot, 11X14 prints, $38
It's perfection. The colors, the lines, all of it. LOVE.
And speaking of love, check out this 'dorable dragon goodness:
Dragon's Dinner Party by Eric Proctor, aka TsaoShin
SO CUTE.
No prints available, but Eric encourages everyone to download the big version for a wallpaper. Nice!
And while we're at it, check out Eric's Toothless & Stitch, dressed as each other!
Ack! This level of cuteness could be weaponized! (Look at the scarf!)
Again, no prints, but you can download the big version here for a wallpaper.
[Correction: You CAN buy prints of this one here on TsaoShin's Society6 page! Yay!]
I seriously need this Iron Giant poster:
The Iron Giant, LE 13X19 print, $25
Need, I say.
And while we're talking movies that don't have enough fan art, how about a little Fifth Element?
Korben Dallas by Digital Theory, 11X17 print $22
And Beetlejuice?
Beetlejuice Poster by The Pixel Empire, various size prints starting at $18
Or The Last Airbender?
The Last Airbender Tribute by Melissa Pagluica, 11X17 print $15
Actually, I've only watched the show, not the movie. And I've been told to keep it that way. ;) (Amazon Prime has the first season of Legend of Korra on streaming, btw, and it is mind-blowingly perfect. WATCH IT.)
Disney villains as cute toddlers? Aw, well, if you insist:
Disney Little Villains by Vivianne du Bois, individual prints start around $16
I've been a fan of Pinky Toast for ages, and while her style is more creepy/kitschy than geeky, I thought you guys might like her tattooed boxer girl:
Bravo Boxer by PinkyToast, 11X14 print $34
And finally, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention Karen Hallion's latest princess mashup, which has just about made the internet explode - and with good reason!
Leia's Corruptible Mortal State, 12x18 print, $35
(There's also a larger poster size.)
Star Wars meets The Haunted Mansion? YES, PLEASE.
(Sometimes Karen posts process videos of her work, and it's positively hypnotizing. I could watch her draw all day!)
Ok, gang, you know the drill: comment below to be entered in my monthly art give-away! The randomly selected winner will have his or her choice of prize from my Pinterest Art Give-Away Board, which I update every month with more selections. I'll announce the winner in my very next post, and yep, I'll ship anywhere. Happy commenting!
The give-away has ended, and our winner is Rose Dolphin! Congrats, Rose, and please e-mail me to claim your prize!

Buy totoro trust me you will watch it again and again totally worth the $20
ReplyDeleteI second this. It is my kids favorite movie for good reason, though I really love the art in Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke. We have a whole slew of the Miyazaki movies that they haven't seen yet that I am hoarding, so beware, you will get addicted quickly.
DeleteMy Etsy favorite shops gets fuller with every art post.
ReplyDeleteMe Me Me, pick me! Oh, was that too over-enthusiastic? Sorry.........:( Love your blogs, they are always the first thing I check every morning when I log in.
ReplyDeleteI really wish there was more Last Airbender art out there. And yes, you are correct, do NOT see the movie. Horrible.
ReplyDeleteLooove the Totoro prints. Great collection this month!
ReplyDeletePick me pick me! :D Great roundup this month! I especially love the X-Wing canvas.
ReplyDeleteOoo! Ooo! I lurv art!
ReplyDeleteI just spent last weekend at the CONsole Room Doctor Who convention in Minnesota. I actually did a simple cosplay -- thanks for sharing your mom's pix, cuz that gave me the courage to give it a whirl (since I'm more of her generation). I was Harriet Jones, Prime Minister, and when I asked a 10th Doctor for a picture, his response was "what did I do now?" and his friend said "brilliant".
ReplyDeleteI'm going to step it up for next year and maybe even do the Masquarade.
Oh my gooses!! The little villans are killing me with the cuteness!
ReplyDeleteAck. Those disney villain toddlers! Too cute!
ReplyDeleteYeah! Art! Enjoying your latest roundup! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteIn the Pirate for all Seasons print, I love how the tentacle's only there in spring and fall...like the sea monster only comes up during the months of amazing weather, hiding away when it's too hot or too cold. Smart sea monster. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win.
MOAR ART PLZ
ReplyDeleteYou find the best art! So amazing. Wish I had all the monies to buy them all :(
ReplyDeleteKorben Dallas. Love that movie.
ReplyDeleteI just love all your posts, Jen. You feel like an old friend sometimes. And I simply love the little Stitch and Toothless!

I love the Iron Giant! It seems like nobody else even knows it. Also, the Pirate for all Seasons is great.
ReplyDeleteWould love to win some geeky at for my living room.
ReplyDeleteLove the cute Villian toddlers. Disney should take a hint and make them into dolls, like the Animator's series...
ReplyDeletePrincess Leia FTW.
ReplyDeleteThere is so much on that board that must find its way to my house!! Love that Leia print. Just cheeky enough.
ReplyDeleteI love the Last Airbender & Korra! But why are Aang's arms weirdly cut off?

ReplyDeleteGeeky squee! Love love love!
ReplyDeleteThose Little Villains are absolutely adorable! I love the pirate seasons too; it's cute how the kraken/sea monster only comes around in the spring and fall :)
ReplyDeleteAnd it has been CRAZY to see Karen Hallion's work all over the interwebs the last week! That mashup did almost break the internet, and I love it. She's crazy talented!
I love the watercolor Star Wars images and REALLY LOVE Princess Leia! How awesome!
ReplyDeleteThe X-Wing is very striking, I have put that on my possible list.
ReplyDeleteI finally bought a "Hello Pony" print and "Iocane" poster on Etsy, but you have so much more on your board that I love too! (Hint hint hint-oh wait. This is a give-away entry. Not exactly subtle...".
ReplyDeleteThose are all awesome, but I think the Toothless/Stitch one made me "awwwww" the hardest.
ReplyDeleteI love the Dragon Dinner Party and the Beetlejuice poster. Awesome!
ReplyDeleteI love all of them so much. I might need that Millenium Faclon for my office... Sandra O

ReplyDeleteHow do you find all these? They are so awesome!
ReplyDeleteBaby disney villains!!!!!! I've got to get myself a sweet little Ursula! Thanks for the great picks Jen
ReplyDeleteI need to buy that adorable owl for my owl loving cousin. Do the toddler versions of villains count as chibi? I can't help but love chibi styled drawings. I think my bank account cringes after I look at your art pages. I think that you have too good of taste. :)

ReplyDeleteAhhhhhhh the Avatar one!! Obsessed!
ReplyDeleteLOVE Avatar the Last Air Bender! I've haven't seen the movie either; I heard it really doesn't do the series justice which is really too bad, because it was PHENOMENAL. Have you started Legend of Korra?? Hope to get some art! :D -Julia
ReplyDeletei would like to decorate my house with your blog. That is all.
ReplyDeleteIf you haven't watched anything from Studio Ghibli then My Neighbour Totoro, Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away are a GREAT trio to start with. Then follow it up with Howl's Moving Castle, Ponyo, and Castle in the Sky. They didn't call Hayao Miyazaki the Japanese Disney for no reason. ^_^
ReplyDeleteOkay so Nausicaa: Valley of the Wind is great too. And Kiki's Delivery Service.
I will bet you $20 you will love any one of the Studio Ghibli movies I've mentioned. ^_^ Even if you're not a fan of anime.
So yeah - I'll throw in my hat for anything Studio Ghibli related. Or anything on your list really. You have good taste IMHO.
There are too many *squee* worthy images. My heart melted over toddler Ursula. Cute little versions of Disney Villains?
ReplyDeletelove all the options!!!
ReplyDelete-Gina

ReplyDeleteI am still collecting things for our nursery, these would all be great!. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteAAHHHH I love them ALL this month. The Iron Man! The Pirates! The Sandworm and ahhhh! all of them yes yes yes.
ReplyDeleteSeriously considering parenthood just to stock a nursery with these prints.
ReplyDeleteIt's official, I need more art! Great picks again this month.
ReplyDeleteTough decision for this month's lucky winner. If elected, I promise to choose wisely, but it'll be HARD!
ReplyDeleteYes, to all...just, yes!!
ReplyDeleteYou find the best stuff!
ReplyDeleteloving the stitch and toothless!!
ReplyDeleteI've always just admired the art on these, but I'll admit the Studio Ghibli set is really, really tempting. Like, actual money may be spent. The details on the Mononoke and Spirited Away prints are just sublime. I love the Totoro too, but the other two have so many hidden gems in the details, I could spend hours finding everything!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful art once again!
ReplyDeleteThis is one of my favorite art round-ups in a long time. Baron Von Hoot is squishably adorable, those villain toddlers are too cute for words, and that Leia a la Haunted Mansion is perfection (sigh). There are definitely a few things from the board I've been eyeing. Fingers crossed! :-)
ReplyDeleteTotally getting that Boba Fett print at the top for my son's new room. Thanks for the great find!

ReplyDeleteAlso, as a general, I really, really love your blog, and the voice you give to so many. This is a place I come to every day, regardless of updates. You've created one of my favorite feel-good interwebs places, and I just really wanted to thank you for that.

ReplyDeleteIf I get a story published this month, I'll have to buy that Baron von Hoot print for my wall.

ReplyDeleteI am so completely in love with just about everything Karen Hallion does. I love the SW prints, too!
ReplyDeletewant!
ReplyDeleteI second all the commenters encouraging you to spring for buying any and all Miyazaki movies! They probably won't be on Netflix for a long time, if at all, because of the way Studio Ghibli protects their creative work (with good reason!), but they are worth every penny, as you'll rewatch them over and over. Steer clear of boxed sets that you can find online--they're usually bootlegged and of lower quality.
ReplyDeleteOoooohhhh!!!!!!!!!!!! pickmepickme!!!!! I love all your art round ups, I find so many new artists and my wish list gets fuller and fuller! Thank you so much for sharing. :-)
ReplyDeleteBaby Ursula is amazing. I neeeeed that.

ReplyDeleteBuy Totoro. You won't regret it. I promise.
ReplyDeleteThere's always so much cute art I just don't know what to do with myself.
ReplyDeleteJessica Joslin is a local artist in Phoenix! I look for her every time we have an art walk downtown. I have four of her pieces already and am always excited when she has something new!

ReplyDeleteI just love the stitch and toothless wallpaper :)
ReplyDeleteThe Fifth Element FTW!!
ReplyDeleteNeed the Boba Fett poster!
ReplyDeleteJust saying, I immediately forwarded your post to my sister who will just geek on the Monkey Minion Press site and the Miyazaki prints. You really cannot go wrong with "My Neighbor Totoro." It is probably my most favorite of the Miyazaki collection. The best is probably the simplest...the Beetlejuice print. It has that aww/creepy vibe (just like the movie!). So awesome! Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI love the Disney Villain Toddler set. So cute!
ReplyDeleteOne day I will win a print. :) I love the little kid villains. So Cute!
ReplyDeleteKristy
Some of these would look perfect above my bookshelves. You find the coolest items! Love, The Rock Collector
ReplyDeleteSometimes I feel like we could be kindred spirits! Great roundup!
ReplyDeleteI'm now trying to justify in my head dropping $100 on that x wing print. It would look fantastic in my living room, so what if my roommate thinks it's nerdy, I AM nerdy :).
ReplyDeleteMy library needs 1 of each of these!
ReplyDeleteI love the toothless and stitch! So cute. I immediately checked out the artist when I saw the pin of that one. Thanks, again, for giving me new and wonderful ways to spend My money and wall space.
ReplyDeleteAnother excellent round up. Love the X-wing print so much - and it would indeed look great over my couch....
ReplyDeleteBEETLEJUICE! BEETLEJUICE! BEETLEJUICE!
ReplyDeleteuhoh....
I always love your art round up :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! Great as always!
ReplyDeleteOnce again I love the art!
ReplyDeleteThe Totoro set is cute. It includes Spirited away and Princess Monoke too. I love Totoro art. I have this official wall scroll I got when I started a family for hanging in the nursery, though it never left the living room. http://www.ghiblistore.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/totoro.png
ReplyDeleteYou need to go watch the Miyazaki movies. I know you like Steampunk and I know you love Disney so these are something you will like. Miyazaki and his Studio Ghibli create the movies that Disney and Pixar artists go to for inspiration. I am not joking.
You need to watch them all. They are animated more beautifully than anything you have seen before and the stories are deeper and more affecting than you suspect. It's the nostalgic Disney you remember from your childhood, taken to another level.
Start with My Neighbor Totoro or Castle in the Sky or Kiki's Delivery Service.
Then watch Nausicca of the Valley of the Wind, Howl's Moving Castle, Spirited Away, Porco Rosso, and Ponyo.
Princess Monoke is great, but violent and more adult, don't be expecting a kid's film.
If your local rental store doesn't have them, they are worth owning, or borrowing from a local fan. Find them somewhere.
As a bonus, here is the only music video Miyazaki ever made and tells a complete story in 7 minutes, that you will be happy to give up after seeing it. http://vimeo.com/48043470
(and be warned, Grave of the Fireflies is also from Ghibli, and is the greatest war movie ever made. Don't watch it casually as part of this group. Everyone should watch it once, and only once. Just be prepared to cry for days afterwords.)
The toddler villians....too adorable!
ReplyDeleteToothless!
ReplyDeleteGreat art this time. Might have to treat myself to somethin' creepy...
Love the movie The 5th Element, I agree there needs to be more awesome fan art for it to bad I am not that creative!!
ReplyDeleteYou really knocked it out of the park with your finds this week, Jen! I'm crossing my fingers to win, 'cause my best friend's been having a (really, really) rough time lately. Like, broke up with boyfriend, health took a turn for the worse, depression out in full force, family being completely unsupportive, dad about to lose job, not sure how she'll pay for college now, etc. Geeky arts are a good cheer up sort of thing. Anyhow, thanks for doing this, as always!
ReplyDeleteThe Fifth Element and Totoro are beyond wonderful. Still searching for Monty Python themed Nursery items.
ReplyDeleteGreat round of geeky artwork !
ReplyDeletesuch talented artists!
ReplyDeleteYou neeeeeeeed to watch Totoro! Such a sweet movie.
ReplyDelete
