We need someone to turn this into a motion-simulator ride, stat.
Also making me smile today? A few new additions to my closet:
Awww yeeeeah.
(Took me forever to figure out my size on the Converse website; anything below a woman's size 6 is ridiculously confusing. Now that I know I wear a 4-7 kids size 3, though, they're mine, ALLL MINE! MWUAH-HA-HA-HAAAA!!
Ahem.
Happy Monday, guys!
What size of shoe do you wear? I'm a size 5.5, but I usually wear a size 6. It is SO hard for me to find shoes to buy. I had having small feet. It's rare to meet someone with small feet like me.
ReplyDeleteI normally wear around a 6, sometimes a 5.5, but Converse run a half size large *and* are too narrow for me in the adult sizes. (Kids' shoes are wider.) I actually love having small feet; lets me shop the kids' section and I find a lot of great scores on the clearance rack! :D
DeleteReally? I need to live in Florida then. The clearance racks in Nebraska are usually slim pickens for small sizes. I don't shop in the kids department too much, they don't have the "grown-up" shoes I need for work.
DeleteAh, good point; I don't need anything respectable for work, so I can get away with kids' shoes filled with blinky lights and whatnot. ;)
Deletehaving large feet (I wear anything from a 10-11) gives me the same opportunity to get great bargains on clearance racks. The problem I have though is that my feet are extremely narrow so I have to be careful about slip-ons or heels.
Delete(tal, normally. Too lazy to sign in.) Did you notice that the Converse website lets you design your own, too? They're more expensive, but ohh, the possibilities...So sad that option doesn't exist on their French website. :(
ReplyDeleteOh, and does anyone happen to know if it's still possible to find all black, pinstriped Converse somewhere? I miss mine so much.
DeleteOr grey plaid cloth (not canvas, more of a…well…cloth) hi-top Converse?! I have a pair that I have worn to bits that I bought from some shoe store a few years ago. It wasn't like it was the only pair or it was a secondhand store or anything like that, they had all the sizes and many many pairs. But now I can't find them anywhere!
DeleteOn the other hand, I did find some rainbow silky Converse at a secondhand store which are awesome and almost make up for it…
Your closet looks like my closet! Chucks have always been my favorite shoe and I have six pairs at the moment. The Design Your Own section is totally awesome - I have black/gray/red plaid chucks from there. :)
ReplyDeleteThe Converse website has some really great "kids" shoes in their licensed shoe sections. They have a bunch of Batman shoes I wish I could fit into. Unfortunately, I have size 11 (Women's) feet, so there's no way I can squeeze in there :).
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I need to remember to send you a picture of the steampunk goggles I made (partially using your tutorial) and my steampunk DC villains group. :)
Why, that video was just splendid, madam, splendid indeed! It reminds me a great deal of several of the motion simulator rides I've ridden, and would make an excellent one, quite so.
ReplyDeleteI will never see these shoes without thinking of the 10th Doctor...
ReplyDeleteAmen!
DeleteJust bought myself a pair of chuck Taylor All star hi-tops today! In lovely red. SO excited - I've been waiting for EVER for them!!
ReplyDeleteIt is my goal in life to own a pair of converse in every shade of the rainbow. I would like to make a few pair too (like if i ever get married my bridal party will all be wearing converse to match the rainbow of colors i will be using.) SQUEEE. I also like mismatching the colors, for over a year i wore one grey one and a green one. or a green one and a brown one. (the brown shoe was actually a "sport" ked they discontinued. made me so sad.
ReplyDeleteHi, not related to this post, but, I've been thinking about that AT-AT rocker. It looks good to me, but have you seen the Taun-Taun (spelling) ones? The center of gravity is so high on those, and the rockers are so small, that it looks like the first rock forward would land the kid on his face. Anyway, yours looks ok in the photos, but keep in mind that a high center of gravity is not a good idea. Just had to get that off my chest.
ReplyDeleteYep, we're adding restriction bumpers to the bottom rails for that very reason; they'll keep the rocker from rocking too far in either direction. Luckily we have friends who live just down the street with a four-year-old, so we have a handy test subject. :)
DeleteI can understand your excitement!! I have the oppisite problem of having huge feet and found myself extremely happy when I found a pair in every colour in my size! So happy I may now be the proud owner of 11 pairs of chucks....
ReplyDeleteJealous! I usually have to shop the mens department cause of how long my feet are.... and then they are too wide so i have to tie them extra tight.
ReplyDeletewait! What? Kids size? Really. Maybe I'm just not familiar with their sizing because I wear a 10 in womens and have never had to look at those smaller sized, but that just seems... odd. Although, probably amazing since kids sizes tend to be less expensive!!
ReplyDeleteCute animation!
ReplyDeleteUgh, I still need all of those colors! At least the orange and green ones...in high top form though, hate low tops.
I knew your feet were small but I had no idea they were *that* tiny! Have you read "Ella Enchanted"? You must have some fairy blood!
ReplyDeleteFunny you should mention Converse sneakers. I recently rediscovered my love for them after watching Doctor Who. I've managed to collect three high top pairs in as many months; natural white (like the Doctor's), black and radio blue to match my MINI Cooper. :)
ReplyDeleteMy teenage daughter is also petite, and has a muscle weakness causing one foot to be much smaller than the other. She requires straps on dress shoes to keep them on her feet (no ballet flats for her :( We found out several years ago that a womens size 6 is equal to a girls size 4. So she wears a 7 in sneakers to have room for her orthotics, and a 5 in girls sizes for sandal and heels. Have you noticed how many little girls dress shoes have 2 inch heels?! Good luck with shoe shopping everyone!
ReplyDeleteIf you can locate a square dance shop, they used to sell shoe straps - bands of pretty crystals (like a watch band or double tennis bracelet, sort of) for the top of the foot, and an adjustable black elastic band to go under the sole. You put on your shoes/flats, then slide the strap over them, with the elastic under the arch where it won't get trodden upon. If they held my shoes on as I square danced lickety-split for hours, they might give your daughter some options on dress shoes. And with the pretty crystals, they look really dressy. If you can't find any, maybe I can find my old ones - they'd need new elastics, but that's an easy fix. Would work with some kinds of tennis bracelet, too, I bet, if you're craft-enabled. I'm Merry, and can be reached at anniesbookstop AT yahoo DOT com.
DeleteSpeaking of feet, mine are 10.5 and I have two.
ReplyDeleteLOVE your new collection! My daughters and I all have small feet, and spend more time in the kids aisle at the shoe store than the women's aisle. The shoes are more fun there, and less likely to have overly high heels. Added benefit - boys shoes are just a tad wider than women's, so more wiggle room!
ReplyDeleteJen, have you checked out the kids' shoe section at Target recently? Mine had about 10 different styles of Converse on clearance! It was a good day. =)
