I recently discovered the work of Ashley Taylor through one of you readers, and I am loving her style:
Most of Ashley's work is Disney-themed - which makes sense, since last week I learned she actually works with some of my friends at the parks! I guess it's a small world, after all. (OH YES I DID.)
Oh, and all of Ashley's 11X17 prints are on sale for just $20 now through Sunday, so act fast if you want one. You can also head over to her blog to see the rest of her work - so many goodies! (The retro Epcot one has stolen my heart. Now if only it came in teal and orange, instead of yellow... [Ashley? Hint hint? :D])
Next, some appropriately spooky Disney cuteness, just in time for Halloween:
Happy Haunts, by Jerrod Maruyama
Look at all that perfect detail! And the Hatbox Ghost!
Next up, some geeky girly badassery:
X-Wing Fighter Pilot by Chrissie Zullo
This was a commission, so sadly I don't see any purchasing information. You can see more of Chrissie's work at her DeviantArt gallery, though!
James Hance is a geeky art producing powerhouse, churning out more pop culture art and mashups in a month than most artists do in a year - and it's all fantastic. Here's one that will especially yank on your heart strings:
"We'll Be Alright," 14X12 print, $15
Lately he's been painting lots of Doctors and characters from our favorite 80s movies:
"It's Only Forever" 16 X12
All of his prints on his website are only $15 each, and you get free shipping if you buy five or more. SO GO NUTS, PEOPLE. There are tons to choose from.
I found artist Shou at the Florida SuperCon a few months ago, and fell head over heels for this Alice piece:
The print was too pricey for me, but if you're up for dropping $120 there are still a few left on her website. Or, I just spotted this cropped Valentine version there for only $40:
I really love that oval frame design.
Shou has other gorgeous pieces on her site, too, like this Harajuku girl:
And groovy digital silhouettes like this Maleficent:
Check out Shou's site for more!
And finally, a happy balloon kitty by the amazing Brittney Lee:
Up and Away mini print, $12
This comes as an iPhone case, too. Fun!
Brittney is perhaps best known for her papercraft art, which is so amazing mere words cannot even BEGIN to explain it, so go explore her blog and see what I mean. She also has a few prints available on Etsy, like this new Queen of Hearts:
This comes as an iPhone case, too. Fun!
Aaaaand it's that time again, folks: GIVEAWAY TIME. I'd like to thank/curse you all for enabling my art addiction, too, since now I'm actually buying art at conventions JUST FOR THIS GIVEAWAY BOARD. It makes me happy to have an excuse to support more artists, though, so I can't complain. Anyway, check out my Pinterest art give-away board to see some of the new additions (more on the way!), and then
[UPDATE: The give-away has ended, and my 3 winners are Judy P., Dani (the Pharmacy Assistant), and Vikki (From AZ)! Congrats, ladies, and please send me your mailing address & choice of art from the give-away board!]
PS - Yes, I'll ship anywhere!
Nice art as always.
ReplyDeleteThank you for always introducing me to great artists. Leah and her Wookie Bear made me melt.
ReplyDeleteYay!! I am in love with the Godzilla in love!
ReplyDeleteYou know, it is posts like these that tempt me to rob a bank so I can buy all the pretties! I'm a fan of James Hance, awesome to know that you like him too! I absolutely adore the Alice one! But unfortunately I don't have any bank robbing plans, so that one's a no go for me! ^-^

ReplyDeleteRobot ACEO by Katie Cook is just too cute. As is "Godzilla In Love" original ACEO by Katie Cook. I guess I just like Katie Cook's work.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteI will keep trying until I can get an ACEO from Katie Cook!
ReplyDeleteAH! You still have Katie Cook ACEO's left! I really wish she would open back up commissions on her site since I won't be able to make it to a con any time soon!

ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this art. I'm 32 and decided two years ago to get a degree in Graphic Design via night classes. Seeing the beautiful digital art you've posted inspires me to keep pursuing this dream--even if it does take 5 years to get a 2 year degree! Oh, and I've been adding to my wish list and updating my husband as needed :)

My best friend has still never seen Star Wars or Princess Bride!!! Thank you for your time and patience in sharing your likes, dislikes, obsessions, and quirkiness!! ReplyDeleteMe! Me! Oooooh, pick me!
ReplyDeleteI love your art selection! Hopefully I win one!
ReplyDeleteI'm running a "Creatitivity Club" for my Peace Corps kids, and always use the art you show on here to inspire them and show them that there is no "one right way" to make art. Quite a shock for them, but a few of them have started trying to make their own art instead of copying, and they're loving it every time you post. Thanks so much for all the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteDid you notice Leia and Chewy are Penny and Teddy? I love the Rescuers and caught that right away!
ReplyDeleteI *love* that malificent! So neat. I actually went to my first con recently (the wonderful first ever salt lake city comic con). And my main goal was to gather art for my empty walls. (If it's been displayed I usually have a note indicating its condition, though; a lot have never been framed.)

ReplyDeleteFor Mother's Day this year I got my first James Hance. It is "Little Rebels" where a young Han and Leia are painted Norman Rockwell style. I love it so much. I can not say enough things about his work. It almost makes me wish for another baby just so I could do a Wookie the Chew nursery. (Almost)
I love when you do art round ups! I might have to buy my self the mermaid lagoon :)
ReplyDeleteOH PLEASE! OH PLEASE!!!! I say it every time, but I loooove your art round-ups! They're so bad for my pocketbook! :D
ReplyDeleteI always LOVE LOVE LOVE checking out James Hance's stuff! I'll have to go back and drool some more! And I'm still loving all the Katie Cook stuff!
