(My first thought: Sweet Staypuft, not the flip-flops again.)
Turns out it's all good, though, because the thing in question was my creepy doll mobile, and the TV show in question belongs to none other than Chris Hardwick, aka Nerdist. (Oh. MIGOSH. Nerdist. NERDIST SAW MY STUFF, YOU GUYS.)
Even better, Chris credits Epbot not once, but TWICE - and, AND!!, he says the name right. (I've noticed during park meetups that roughly half of you pronounce it "EEP-bot." Which is adorable. But wrong. ;))
Here's Chris introducing my photo with some fun descriptive terms that may have included "criminally insane:"
And here are the three comedians (coughcough PATTON OSWALT!! cough) tasked with giving it a funny name:
Patton wins.
You can watch the whole episode of Chris' show @Midnight online here, and the clip with the dolls starts at 12:20. [Note that the show is a bit raunchy, so watch at your own risk.]
Thanks to everyone who tweeted, e-mailed, and commented this morning to give me the good news, to Chris Hardwick and the crew at Midnight for giving Epbot it's very first TV mention (!!), and of course to the Bloggess for inspiring all this creepy craftiness to begin with. I'mma go have some cake now.
Congratulations!! Very exciting! On a smug, better than half note, Eep-bot? Really? I've never even been to Florida and I know it's Epbot!!! You know, like Epcot??
ReplyDeleteOMG that is awesomeness supreme! I am so excited for you!! And even more so because they properly credited you. Kudos! Nicole S.
ReplyDeleteSO COOL! Gotta love Chris Hardwick-- watching the segment as soon as I get home from work. And double-yay for proper crediting!
ReplyDelete"Some cake"??? Sister, you deserve the whole friggin thing! Still bummed I did not win your "lovely"....
ReplyDeleteI saw it last night and was so happy to see Epbot mentioned. On a side note the show is called @Midnight, not Midnight. ;)
ReplyDeleteOk, this is too funny: I've only seen the show mentioned on Twitter, so I had NO IDEA the @ was part of the name. Ha! Off to fix that...
DeleteI don't know, Jen. That mobile puts the "eep" in Epbot... Congrats!
ReplyDeleteYay! The more people who hear of your awesomeness, the better. On a different note, I saw a creepy doll at a yard sale and immediately thought of you...
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome and I can't believe I missed it! My boyfriend and I watch @midnight every night but last night I passed out on the couch! Noooooo! I am now going to have a stern talk with him about not waking me up for it!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI was watching the show with my boyfriend and I nearly jumped off the couch when I saw it! I was quite proud to say I follow BOTH your blogs and knew exactly where he got the photo from, before he even mentioned Epbot.
ReplyDeleteSo cool that more people are learning about your greatness! Admittedly, I mis-pronounced Epbot as e-p-bot (as in the letter e, the letter p, bot) until you posted about the name being related to Epcot and then had a "duh, she's a Diz-geek, that makes SOOO much more sense" moment.
ReplyDeleteYay! I've been saying Epbot correctly! Points. And I think Rich Cat/Poor Cat is now my new favorite thing.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I just watched last night's episode a little while ago, and got really excited. I was like, "Yup, I remember that post." So great!
ReplyDeleteI'm kind of enjoying Chris' show. Yes, it can get pretty raunchy at times, but there have been a couple times when it leaves me in stitches. My sister and I agree that it sometimes feels rushed and that maybe it wouldn't feel like that if it were a hour show.
Congrats Jen!!! That is so exciting!
ReplyDeleteI just saw it and had to come over and say Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteWas half-watching the show last night when I saw the post image, suddenly jumped in my bed and slapped my husband around to show him excitedly that Epbot was on the television box. It was like I was seeing a friend on national TV.. because.. you know.. that's totally normal >.>
ReplyDeleteHa! Awesome Jen...Congrats!! And Chris Hardwick, I didn't know he was still doing stuff. I remember him from Singled Out!
ReplyDeleteWatching the episode now! I was so excited to hear "Epbot" and ran (figuratively, with my fingers) to Epbot.com to see if you knew! So exciting! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteI'm smiling because you were referenced on tv. I'm smiling bigger because it was for the freaky, creepy doll mobile instead of something beautiful you've done. LOL just figures. ;)

BAHAHA, this comment makes me laugh because, well, it's true! And isn't that just the way of the world?!
DeleteOMG that's in my house! My new decor is FAMOUS! Thanks again, Jen!
ReplyDeleteDang it! This video is unavailable in your area *pouts and stuff*. Will have to see if I can find it elsewhere. Congrats though, that's awesome!
ReplyDeleteBarb in Canada
Beautiful. That is fantastic! I love this website so much!
ReplyDeleteAah! For some reason, I was CONVINCED it was pronounced "ee-pee-bot"! I yelled at the TV and everything. :(
ReplyDeleteFor Canada, go here:

My hands are soaking in it! I mean I'm watching it now, though I rhyme mobile with "toe file".
Ok, that was just hilarious. Thank you for linking, and serious congratulations!
ReplyDeleteWe were totally watching! I freaked out when I saw it!
ReplyDeleteI have never before seen @midnight.. :O love it (mostly i love Paton Oswald lol) even though i KNEW that it would be there (i did the clicky clicky to go watch) i still did a "cheese'n it" grin when it came on.. and i am one of the ones who have said "eep bot" now to the box of shaaammee, nah really though I don't "read" pronuciation well i have to hear it, so now i shall say the EPas in Epcot for epbot :) <3
ReplyDeleteCongrats Jen! I still think it's creepy!
ReplyDeleteYou know, that night was the first time I had stayed up to watch @midnight. (My lap was held hostage by a cat.) Coincidence?!?! I think not. :)
ReplyDeleteACK! The Nerdist! I totally stopped listening to his podcast to watch the clip! So cool!
ReplyDeleteBut….Eeepbot?!?! What in the world? That makes no sense.
That's so awesome! I just watched the episode on On Demand to see Patton Oswalt and heard Chris say Epbot! WHAT?! Got on the computer to let you know and saw this post :) Awesome!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Tanya for the link! Much appreciated :)
ReplyDeleteBarb
I was just watching the episode and had to rewind it. Did he just say "Epbot?!?!"
ReplyDeleteThat was awesome! I haven't seen that show before. It is so nice to see you getting some recognition.
ReplyDeleteThat is so AWESOME!!! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteI so enjoy reading your sites and find it fascinating how a provoking little comment from the Bloggess on your interior decorating style can balloon up this way. I'm really commenting today to ask if you have ever tried EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique AKA "tapping") to manage your anxiety issues? I've used it recently on a different issue, and it seems to help. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IWu3rSEddZI
ReplyDeleteTo Jen, John, and to all who make Epbot so fabulous,
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the attention! About time a site so dedicated to bringing out positivity in the world gets time to shine in the spotlight. This *coughs* mobile might not be your best example of positivity, but hey, if it brings more enlightenment of your awesomeness to the masses, let it shine. Btw, I believe I remember seeing Epbot's EPIC worldwide response to Katie's fabulous inner geek light on the evening world news. Jus' sayin'. Keep on rockin' on!
P.S. I've also seen fully credited images of your CakeWrecks on ABC's 'The Chew'. And to think I get to tell any future grandchildren I may have about the day we met you and John on the book tour.... Keep up the great work!
