Desperado Decorating

Since this might get me in trouble, here are a few things you should know:

1. John and I took a photography course together in college.

2. Our maturity level has remained relatively static since then.

3. I never inhaled.

So yesterday I found an old photo from that course that used to hang in our living room - much to the consternation or delight of our friends, depending on their taste - and decided it needed to be reintroduced to our decor.

As luck would have it, I also found one of those sappy printed word frames from Ross tucked away in my stash. I have no idea why I bought it, but I quickly realized this was a match made in heaven.

Assuming heaven is really snarky.

Hey, at least it makes me laugh. ;)

  1. Oh, that's BRILLIANT, Jen! (I hope Heaven is a little snarky. I intend to go there one day, and I really, really want to fit in.)

  7. What does it mean, the photo? Wait... Are you about to be shot?!?!? Are you at the business end of a firing squad?

  8. This is a funny, snarky pictorial of your marriage and working style.
There is no need to change excpet maybe to steampunk the frame a bit more....

  9. That is greatness! LOL! I wish I had had some fellow snarky classmates like you guys when I took photography back in college!

Sometimes I miss the days before digital - the dark room developing was so much fun!

  10. I loved the darkroom too! I can even smell the chemicals just thinking about that time. Awesome pic, need to steampunk up the frame some more, I'm sure you will!

  11. LOVE IT! The sappy frame is definitely the perfect touch. I feel like I need to borrow this idea for a photo of my sister and I. Would make the perfect mothers day gift ;) My mom is cool like that.

  16. I don't get it. I mean, the snarkiness kinda makes sense, but the picture itself is confusing. What is it supposed to be?

  17. I absolutely love that! The picture, the frame, all of it.

  18. I usually find any wall with inspirational sayings annoying....
    You made it fun!!

  19. I loved you before this but now I have an all out girl crush on you (not in a creepy way, in an I'd love to have coffee with you way). Your snarkiness is fabulous.

  25. So awesome!

A few years ago, I found a picture of my mom in all her 70's caftan and wig glory holding a sign that says "A friend with weed is a friend indeed". I have never seen her get so awkward and defensive in my life. It was a riot!

  26. Takes me back to my high school photography days. Thing is I still have a darkroom. Nothing happens in it anymore since Kodak has pretty much rolled over. I have a 16x20 print processor that is like an albatross around my neck. I can't give the thing away. I must admit though I am getting used to using Photoshop. Cool shots and fitting frame!

  27. I met a cool couple over the holidays who made a Christmas card with an equal bit of snark. He was hanging upside down on the front porch tangled in lights and she was dressed as a flapper watching with an expression of haughty boredom. It was the hit of the season. :)

  30. This is amazing! I have always hated those cheesy live~laugh~love posters, and it chafes every day that I have one in my kitchen because my soon-to-be mother in law bought it for my fiance. This is a thoroughly awesome and the *only* appropriate way to use something like that.

  31. Given those two items, I would do the same thing. Awesome.

  32. Tooo funny! Thanks for the mid-day laugh! I'll be grinning for a while over THAT one ;-)

  33. And made ME laugh too. From looking at the other comments, I'd say you have a lot of fans who have an, er, interesting sense of humor . . .
    (Hooray!)
Someday I'll have to send you a photo of my husband and me in college at a dance where you had to dress as what you thought you'd be in 20 years.
Did I say "interesting" sense of humor?
