"I thought you needed to see this. I made them. The pig on the left is my male, Snickers, and the one on the right wishing I would die in a fire is Ouiser Boudreaux, my female. She is of course neutered because the world does not need more accidental guinea pigs. They are both rescue pigs. Also, they were not fond of the hats, no matter how cunning they are."
I'll admit I was expecting pigs of the curly-tailed variety at first (which, c'mon, would be pretty awesome) but that little death stare is perfection itself. Quick! Someone say the safe word!
So thanks, Alden. I think I speak for us all when I say: we actually DID need to see that.
That is definitely some piggie stink-eye going on with Ouiser.
ReplyDeleteSnickers is just "happy to be here" like most piggies.
CUTE! CUTE! CUTE!!
ReplyDeleteAre you coming to DragonCon this year? 2 weeks!!! Eeeeeeeeeee!!
THAT is pure awesomeness. I was giggling so hard the bf had to come and see what was going on.
ReplyDelete"The hero of Canton, the man they call Jaaayyyyne!"
Oh Jayne haha yes those are some rather cunning hats
ReplyDeleteThat is the most awesome thing I have ever seen. Thank you so much for sharing that with us! I needed a pick me up.
ReplyDeleteThey sit quite cunning, dontcha think?
ReplyDeleteomg it's JUST TOO CUTE!!!!
ReplyDeletethat's the most adorable death stare i've ever seen! ;)
wv poket- what an annoying person says when you find a plastic bag of a suspiciously squishy substance. for example: poketpoketpoketpoketpoket
-kate
Ouiser - "Don't try to get on my good side, Truvy, I no longer have one!"
ReplyDeleteSnickers looks soo much our little boy, Piggy, that it brought tears to my eyes. He had the sweetest disposition. :D He would have eaten the hat, though. He was kind of a pig.
ReplyDeleteUnexpected Firefly pic: priceless. Squee
-Barbara Anne
So cute! And deadly. Lemme atcha.
ReplyDeletethanks for a good laugh!
ReplyDeleteThe guinea pig death stare makes me giggle. Made me think of her namesake's line: "You are a pig from hell." Which, the irony of, made me giggle even more. :)
ReplyDeleteWV: intends. The daggers from the pig's eyes make me afraid of what she intends to do once I am asleep.
Day? You've just been made. :)
ReplyDeleteSquee! Those are ADORABLE! And the guinea pigs are pretty cute, too. I'd make a Jayne hat for my kitty, but she'd give me a death glare even worse than the one in the photo...
ReplyDeleteApples.
ReplyDeleteA second Fillion reference, booya.
OMG, a blog post with references to Firefly AND Steel Magnolias. Add in the cuteness and my head just might explode!
ReplyDeleteMy son has been BEGGING me for one of these little piggies. I am definitely NOT showing him this picture to fuel the begging. (he's 5...possibly when he's 10. But only because I. Want. One. Too!) But Oh So Cute. Thanks!!
ReplyDeleteEta Kooram Nah Smech!
ReplyDelete"I'm keeping the disapproval on a stun setting only because I like you. Don't make me crank it up to 'maim'."
ReplyDeleteThis one went straight to my Facebook. Followed by my LJ. :)
ReplyDeleteBeen having a slight problem with your blog for a while now. The post titles disappear after a few seconds along with all of the tabs at the top of the page (including the contact tab, hence I am here).
ReplyDeleteCute pigs (I always kinda wanted one), but if they don't wear hats...
Where does one get a rescue pig?
LoL--that's hilarious!
ReplyDeleteI have a guinea pig, knitting needles, and yarn. Now I also have a mission - adorable piggy hats!!
ReplyDeleteBwahahahahahahahahahah!
ReplyDeleteI recognised your pigs straight away from GuineaLynx Alden! :) They are truely famous now :D
ReplyDeleteThis made my morning. Thanks, Aldan (and Jen)!
ReplyDeleteI now feel the need to go knit this hat immediately. To bad I dont have the right color yarn for the project right now!
ReplyDeletedoes she take orders? I think my guinea pig really wants (aka I really want) one of these!
ReplyDeleteUh-oh, we're being glared at...
ReplyDeleteSuper cute, though. :)
My days of not taking guinea pigs seriously are certainly coming to a middle. Those hats are awesome!
ReplyDeleteSuper cute, but I had to mention that female sterilization of an animal is called "spay" as in "She has been spayed" not neutered as would befit a male.
ReplyDeleteRescue pigs can be found ALL OVER, including at run-of-the-mill Humane Societies and on Petfinder. For reliable pig info, better than you'd get from a store, and help finding one (or two -- they're happier in multiples), check out guineapigcages.com or guinealynx.com.
ReplyDelete(Neither of these are my blogs, so I'm not pimping myself. They're just really good sources of info.)
I so needed to see that today!
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, that is serious stink-eye from Ouiser.
I love, love, love the pigs--used to raise them--and according to my dad, the whistle I use to call the dogs is the same one I used to rile up the guinea pigs when I was young and foolish.
My last pig, a brown shorthair named Miss Malarky BigButt (Lark, for short & polite) needed one of those cinnabon Princess Leia headbands....but I heart the Jayne hats!
I literally laughed out loud loud loud at this, I may have startled the neighbours. LOL Shiny!
ReplyDeleteI miss my piggies. They were Zuel (all white with laser pink eyes) and Dana. "There is no Dana, only Zuel." My kids like Ghostbusters. :)
ReplyDeletegirls are "spayed" not "neutered."
ReplyDeleteYes, yes, y'all, I know that females are spayed and not neutered. I actually wasn't writing a public blog post, but just firing off a quick email to someone whose blog reassures me that it's okay to be an adult geek! I'm glad I got to share with everyone, but I DIDN'T PROOFREAD. Good grief.
ReplyDeleteAlso, Emily, I can't figure out how to contact you, but I'd be happy to knit more hats -- I have a ton more yarn. If you don't mind my taking a while and if you pay shipping, I'll be happy to make more! I mostly knit while watching tv. :)
You can contact me through my blog if you want.
My sister made me one of those little Jayne hats, but put a keychain ring on the end of it, so it is always hanging on my purse :) It makes me so happy, and makes me even happier when someone recognizes it :)
ReplyDeleteLate in defense of using "neuter" for "spay". "Neuter" is non-gender-specific. We commonly use if for males because our males get so squeeamish when we use the proper male-specific word.
