$10 Geek Tees? Yes, Please!

I should start by saying this is *not* a sponsored post. I just figure if I'm going to be throwing all my money into geeky tees, you guys might as well join me.

Through tomorrow, all the tees on Threadless are only $10. However, you may have noticed - as I have - that Threadless seems to specialize in more artsy hipster stuff than in geek girl goodies. And there's a LOT of it to comb through when seeking geektastic gems.

Well, never fear, fellow fans! I have heroically picked through all the watercolor guns and ironic silhouette art to bring you only the best geeky options!

BEHOLD!

Been There

Back to the Future meets Indiana Jones. Great Scott!

I also like that the girl wearing it has a cute hot air balloon tattoo:

Of course, none of the designs can come out and say they're a Star Wars or Harry Potter design for copyright reasons, which is another reason searching through shirt sites like Threadless can be a pain.

House Brawl

This one's neat because its also available in the girl's "boatneck" style for the same price:

I absolutely LOVE this Doctor Who (ish) design:

I don't usually wear t-shirts this busy, though, so I'm on the fence about buying it. I'd almost rather have it as an art print. (Something I say quite a lot about Threadless designs, actually.)

There's even a little steampunk to be had:

I already own these next two, if that tells you how well I like them:

And John wore this next one so much he literally wore it out. I think I'll have to buy him a new one:

This started many, many conversations. Most of them confused.

I think I'll also have to nab this one:

And also this one, even though it's less geeky and more oh-so-cute-hot-air-balloon-y:

Again, all of these shirts are $10 until tomorrow. To find more geeky options, your best bet is to select Gaming or Pop Culture under categories and browse that way. I also omitted a few awesome designs (like the Muppets rainbow one) because they're sold out. (Boo!)

Also, today's TeeFury is a Firefly inspired "I Aim to Misbehave", and their shirts are always $10 (plus shipping.) Oh, and while we're at it, if you've never checked out Woot or Ript Apparal, those are also great $10 deal-a-day t-shirt sites. (Today's Ript Cylon toaster made me laugh.)

Um, I guess I should stop now, before I bankrupt us all. Heh. Still, let me know what I missed in the comments! And happy shopping!

  1. Technically (Japanese language and culture nerd here), that's not haiku! It's SENRYU. Same 5/7/5, but without the nature/seasonal word requirement. Senryu is often cynical or satirical. Japanese use senryu in ads and political commentary and things like that.

  2. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the haiku one!

  3. I am a shirt.Woot! shopper myself. Thanks for introducing all of the other t-shirt sites. Glad to add them to the list.

That 'Haiku' t-shirt had me rolling on the floor.

  4. If you like the Dr Who print that much, buy it for art! Just think how nice that would look stretched across a piece of cardboard and framed to hang on the wall!

  5. I love Threadless. I have to be careful about visiting them because about 90% of my wardrobe comes from them.
I can't wait for DragonCon because I plan to wear all of my Threadless tees there (except for when I'm rocking my steampunked bridesmaid gowns!)

  6. Awesome shirts, hubby would kill me if I got more though. I linked to this one on your FB page, but I'll do it here as well because this Mario & Magritte mashup always makes me chuckle Ceci n'est pas une pipe.

Is it just me, or is that font on the Space and Time shirt super familiar? Ugh, going to be racking my brain trying to figure out where I've seen it before!

WV: mometta - There's nothing mometta than a geeky shirt, or twenty....

  7. I am no stranger to Teefury or Ript Apparel (the Cylon Toaster made me giggle too; I passed on "I Aim To Misbehave" shirt because I already have so freakin' MANY Firefly shirts!). But you might check out www.qwertee.com they also have cheap tee-shirts (unbelievably comfy ones, actually) AND you get candy with your shirt! Win-win!

  8. I always have a hard time buying T-shirts because I buy the ones that make me laugh, then never wear them because I've been trying to dress nicer-like.

So instead of some of the funnier designs, I picked up "Kyoto", "Blooming", and "Larry the fox doesn't feel so clever anymore". They're all gorgeous designs that come in a boatneck style.

I also got "Storytelling" because I <3 it.

On a related note, have you seen the book Generation T: 108 Ways to Transform a T-Shirt? I absolutely love it. I've been hoarding up old shirts that I love but don't wear anymore to do most of the projects. I even made a T-shirt quilt that my husband immediately snagged to sleep under.

However, my favorite T-shirt craft has to be this one: http://www.instructables.com/id/FASTEST-RECYCLED-T-SHIRT-TOTE-BAG/

It just can't be beat for usefulness and simplicity to make.

  9. Thanks for selecting a few gems for us. I know Threadless has tons of shirts that I'd like, but their layout is such a pain. I wish there was a way to enlarge the pics or click from one to another. I usually give up after looking at a few.
But that TeeFury shirt? Already mine.

  10. G'day Jen, thought you might like this one too, EVERYONE loves penguins, right ?

  11. I like to check out shirt.woot.com, teefury.com and riptapparel.net. They are ten dollar shirt a day sites though so when the shirt is gone, you are out of luck. Woot does keep them for a bit but after the deal of the day, you have to pay $15.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Teefury.com, riptapparel.net and shirt.woot.com are awesome. $10 a day shirts for the win. Woot let's you pick them up later for $15 but having cheap cool designs in amazing.

  13. My husband is also wearing out his "Haikus Are Easy" shirt. He loves wearing it and we both enjoy peoples puzzled looks (usually followed by a grin of clarity) that people get when reading it.

  14. I know there's tons to look through but it seems you kept to the ones that came in a girly cut which is a shame because you missed out on these!

  15. I had to go buy the Haiku one. It was too funny. I don't normally impulse buy but I couldn't help it.

  16. I know it's sold out (wasn't last week), but this Doctor Who inspired one was my favorite:

  17. @dmoore2 - John bought that one! I told him he needed more geek tees, so he went on a cute-geek-tee buying spree. He now has chibi Harry Potter animals, a cute octopus going "RAWR"! and that Hoo shirt. It's hilarious.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I want that Doctor Hoo one sooooo bad! I hope they reprint it!

When I first saw it there were some left, but not in the size I'd need (which was almost enough to make me diet lol)

  19. Thanks for posting this and all the links. I often find it daunting sorting through the mediocre and the great!

  20. I hadn't seen riptapparel before. And in searching, I was wondering if you had seen this shirt? Steampunk Seahorse.

  21. I LOVE Threadless, but I can't believe I missed that E.T. one! Off to look for more!

  22. @ Amy J - Yes, I have that one! It's actually how I first found Ript; a reader sent me the link. I looove it.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I LOVE Ript because they do SO many geeky designs. Tons of Who and Potter, etc. So far Madame Rosmerta's Butterbeer shirt has been my favorite.

I have the House Brawl from Threadless in a hoodie. It's awesome! I wish they did more Who/geeky designs there.

    ReplyDelete
  24. OMG I never knew that BttF/Indy shirt existed! *bought*

    ReplyDelete
  25. Yay! I have had the E.T. shirt that you showed on here for a few years. I was a HUGE E.T. nut when I was a kid, so when my parents saw it, my mom said, "That figures." ;) (I still have my E.T. shirt from when I was a little kid as well as my E.T. night light with the finger that has a glowy hole in it and a red cut-out spot over his heart that also glows.)

Shirt.woot has TONS of good ones. Even if you don't like today's shirt, you can always check out The Reckoning to see if you like any of the old ones that are fighting to stay alive in the weekly battle. (My current fave there is the Dr. Horrible/Penny spoof. We got that for my niece for Christmas this year: http://shirt.woot.com/friends.aspx?k=20697 .)

I'm trying not to go buy that Harry Potter houses one right now, although I'm thinking I still like the Woot Reckoning one better there: http://shirt.woot.com/friends.aspx?k=20370 .

  26. You forgot this one: Doctor-Hoo ...I almost bought it but they were already sold out of my size

    ReplyDelete
  27. I can't afford any of them, whaa! BUT I did make a bitchin' Harry Potter t-shirt that is nerdy to the max.

"It's so Fluffy, I'm gonna die!"

  28. Woot was new to me and while exploring I saw this shirt and thought of you.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Sadly, the cute girly tees aren't big enough for my busty plus sized self. :( Why, oh why can't they have some plus sized tees for BBW?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Love the first one tons! My hubs has the haiku shirt as well. He LOVES that thing. He think sit's the funniest shirt ever created. Ever. That, and the one of the devil making a snow angel.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I snagged the Doctor Hoo shirt right after your cake post--so thank you! : D

And now I have a new website to oggle on a regular basis.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Commenting again because this is not a shirt yet but it TOTALLY needs to be. If you're eligible to vote on Woot, please help me make this happen! I don't even really like charcoal color shirts that much, but that design is just too hilarious to pass up.

WV: calivvv - I calivvv without this shirt! Help me Epbot horde, you're my only hope.

  33. Argh, I only just got an order from thinkgeek this week! But I loved the space invader shirt and BTTF/Indiana jones shirt so much I couldn't resist.... *wimper*

Oh well, if you close your eyes when you click submit on a credit card it doesn't count as spending money, right? Right?

    ReplyDelete
  34. Soooooo.... not sure if you know this... buuut, you can buy them as art prints. Here is that as an art print. In different sizes too.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Hey Jen!
They totally have the Space & Time print in wall art form!

    http://society6.com/product/Space-and-Time_Print?tag=threadless

They have a bunch of other Threadless prints there but you have to check out their other designs too. They have lots of amazing Star Wars ones. Click on the More Categories on the left, choose Sci-Fi and geek out!

  37. Heya Jen & John,

If you like the shirt design but would rather it were a print, you can always fold the shirt over a board and frame it. then you get a nice "print" of the design and no one has to kno0w that it isn't. At $10 a piece I'd say that you'd be getting quite a bit of wall-art on the cheap.

  38. If you are looking for $10 tees, you should check out teemagnet.com. It shows the tee of the day for eight different sites.

Also, it looks like there's a $5 coupon on threadless's facebook page, but you have to add an app, and I haven't done that yet. It's under the Be A Pal link.

    ReplyDelete
  39. @Squirerel, I'm not sure about that font either, but when you find out PLEASE let me know, it's driving me crazy too!!!

    ReplyDelete
  40. I get my $10 fix at www.teecraze.com -- they feature pretty much all the sites listed here, in one handy location. :D

    ReplyDelete
  41. I would buy tons of these awesome shirts, but I hate regular tshirt necks. I wish there were more options in a vneck style. Yes, I'm just that picky.

    ReplyDelete
  42. And don't forget that Threadless does kids sizes, too. We got House Brawl for our kidlet to help raise the next generation of geek girls right.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I picked up three tees from Threadless this morning before seeing your post. Almost bought the Phone Home one too (childhood nostalgia moment). However I went with less geeky designs this time. The one may appeal to your steampunk sensibilities though. :)

  45. I just ordered rebel lighthouse 2 days ago! I LOVE the haiku one, that is completely my sense of humour and if I had that t-shirt there's a good possibility I'd fall over laughing everytime I looked at myself in the mirror. Hmm. Maybe I should go and make another order..

Your phoning home one makes me sad, for some reason. It has a poignant look!

  46. Yeah, that "wishless" tee was in my shopping cart about 5 seconds after I saw it on your site. Combine that with the goggle making supplies in my garages and you get a sum total of COMPLETELY AWESOME

  48. THANK YOU so much for providing the link to Ript at the bottom of this post! I had never heard of the site, but I decided to put it on my daily visit list. Today they have a shirt from sideart I had admired on Teefury last week, about the Goonies. Instant buy for me, thank you again!

  49. My dresser is stuffed to the brim with threadless. Haiku is one of my favorites! I haven't subbed anything in ages, but I love the stuff they print. I wish my wallet was also filled to the brim, so I could grab a few of the new ones! I'm waiting for this one to come back around...

  51. Wishless was the first Threadless I bought. My fav one is Insomniac (Sheep eating grass that looks like hash marks) Pillow Fight is also cute. That site is addicting. Always make sure to watch for their Black Friday sales.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Have you thought about buying the ones you really like as art and making them into pillows or tee shirt blankets?
(I think this would be especially good for those times when you see a great clearance deal on something but it's the wrong size)
