Princess Bride Anniversary Photos!

Ahhh, nothing eases the transition back into the work week after a holiday quite like amazing Princess Bride-themed anniversary photos. Know what I mean?

Fortunately, Epbot reader Jess (aka Jessica W.) was happy to oblige us with hers:

Woot! Hold on to your holocaust cloaks, folks, cuz this is gonna be gooood.

I'm already swooning. How 'bout you?

Mahwidge: That dweam...within a dweam.

I couldn't decide which of these next two shots I liked better, so I'll just include both.

First there's the dramatic, facing-down-Prince-Humperdink version:

Surrender? DEATH first!!

And then there's the cheerful, hey-we-just-successfully-stormed-the-castle version:

You can see Jess's dress a bit better here, which - did I mention? - she actually made herself!

Yep, I'd say it's pretty clear this is one geeky cool couple who will be "tweasuring" their "wuv." Congratulations, guys!

All photos by Meghan Christine Photography, and you can see the rest of the shoot here.

UPDATE: Whoops! Apparently my brain has yet to shift out of long-weekend mode; these are anniversary photos, not engagement ones as I said initially. Jess and her hubby have been married for six years. Sorry about that, guys!

  4. Aww, I wish. But the site said they were the 6 year anniversary photos. :(

  5. So awesome. I wish I'd had the imagination to have a themed wedding based on something I really loved. Of course...it would have helped to have a wedding...we did the quickie military courthouse wedding. But still.

I want to have a re-wedding so it can be happily geeky themed around Harry Potter.

    I call a wedding redo!!

  8. I'm absolutely in love with this idea! :)

One of my dearest friends was married by a priest who had a very similar speech impediment to the Bishop in The Princess Bride. All of the members of our little group of friends were in absolute hysterics ('cause you know, you just can't laugh in church) every time he said "mawwadge." Constant whispering of "a dweam wiffin a dweam" up and down our row... giggles and sniffles and snorts... wiping of eyes on sleeves, on hands, on each other...

    It was awesome.

  9. The priest that married us sounds like Tennessee Tuxedo... But I digress....

  10. Wow!! Jen, thank you for posting these, I'm pretty sure I'm still stuck on the ceiling! Not often you go to your RSS feed to see yourself as a post! LOL

Thank you everyone for your sweet comments. These were actually Matt's, my husband, idea! Meghan loved it as much as we did when we asked her! The only thing more fun than the photos was the constant movie quotes being thrown while taking them!

Gezebelle - Yes, they were 6 year anniversary photos, but they made up for the fact we never got to do engagement photos. Better late than never! :)

  13. What a coincidence - I just got a copy of the book, The Princess Bride today as a gift!

  14. I walked down the aisle to the theme from Princess Bride! Wish I'd had the guts to wear a dress like that, too! How cool!

  15. So pretty! The man who performed our wedding started with "Marriage. Marriage is what brings us together today." just because he knew we both loved the movie!

  16. I wish I could re-do my wedding so I could incorporate Princess Bride references into it. However, my 16-year-old daughter loves the movie as much as I do, so maybe I can influence things when the time comes... :-)

  17. LOVE IT! I always wanted to walk down the aisle to the Mark Knopfler theme music. Unfortunately I heard the super gushy lyrics one day (after years of watching the movie and only hearing the music) - much as I love the music, I'm not a super gushy sort of person and the lyrics really put me off :(

  18. That is wonderful! My hubby and I might have to do an Indiana Jones version. (That was the recessional music for our wedding, hat included.)

  19. My inner geek is blissfully happy right now :) This is my all time favorite movie. I think I must work the mawidge line into my vows somewhere, granted that is after I first find the geeky fiancee who will appreciate it!

  20. These are so cool! I'm totally copying the "As you wish" chalkboard one of these days.

  21. Awwww! These pictures are sooo cute! And, it's especially awesome because I'm in the middle of reading The Princess Bride right now!

  23. Now I'm feeling really boring for just doing Anniversary pictures in our wedding clothes...So great guys!

My brother did the whole "Mahwidge" speech at our wedding reception ten years ago. His wedding is this summer and I have NO IDEA how I will top that! Any suggestions...?

  24. So...much...love...I think my brain just died from happiness overload. These photos are fantastic! Congrats to them on 6 great years. May there always be enough geekiness to go around.
