Printable Pocket Watch Faces!

I'm still easing back into a regular blogging schedule over here (translation: being lazy) but here's at least one thing I got done today:

I finally took pictures of my favorite antique watch faces!

These pocket watch guts were a gift from my Dad last year, but I've been hesitant to do anything permanent with them just because I love the porcelain faces so much. Then it occurred to me that I could probably do some neat things with printed copies of them.

These are perfect for you fellow crafters, steampunks, and steampunk crafters: all you have to do is print them out at the size of your choice, and then either coat them with a bit of epoxy or add a piece of clear plastic on top. Instant faux watch face! You can layer clock hand charms on top, use them for scrapbooking, set them in lockets, decoupage them over boxes, or even use them for functioning clock faces. Really, the sky's the limit.

All I ask is that you only use these for personal use, and that you credit/link back to Epbot when applicable. Oh, and send me pictures if you make something cool with them. ;)

Thanks, guys, and enjoy!

Click on any pic to see full-size, and then right-click to save the file.

  3. Oooo, pretties! Thank you for sharing. Any chance some brilliant mind could turn these into photoshop brushes for us? Only with your blessing, of course.

  5. Have you thought of doing a shadow box with the actual watch faces. It could be a non-permanent piece of artwork.... __________

Shrinky-dinks are a great idea for making them look antique.

  9. Wow! I think I would just put all the original watch faces up on the wall, in a tiled pattern. They would look so beautiful!

  11. Hi, I love these because another of my sources for clock faces pulled hers off her blog. She had resized hers to fit on to old CDs and DVDs and made them into clocks and ornaments - perfect recycling project. Posted 2 photos, your request for personal use only and a link back to your blog on my Tumblr blog. Thanks for taking the time and effort to photograph these and share them with everyone :)

  12. So fun! Thanks for sharing these!

If you or your parents are ever in MA, you should definitely check out the Charles River Museum of Industry & Innovation. It's in an old pocket watch factory and the whole top gallery is antique watches and watchmaking tools. (They're also the ones that host the Watch City Steampunk Festival in the spring - way fun!)

  14. Random observation about clock faces: Have you ever noticed that many Roman numeral dials use IIII for four instead of IV? Since it was pointed out to me, I now always notice!
There are many theories about why, but basically no one is sure why. A quick Internet search will give you a few of the supposed reasons.

  15. Holy moly. These are unbelievable!
I believe I must draw something to go along with this... I use textures in my illustrations, but never use them as a background!!!

I'll link it to you once I've completed the art... I have to draw something steampunkish, I suppose! Har har har... I illustrate something daily for my Tumblr - so I'll do something in hommage to EPBOT! ♥

  17. Sadly, I have never really made anything before (unless you count knitting!). Having said that, I believe I now have to be totally predictable and unimaginative ... that is, use one to make an actual clock with!

Sad but true. Nowhere near as awesome as anyone else who reads this will probably come up with but ... there it is.

  24. Thank you so much for these. What lovely, clear images and all the chips and hair-line cracks that make them real. These are perfect for fitting into my cheap plastic compasses, to make them steamy and belivabe.

  25. Ooh, I'm so excited about this! I recently bought a rather tall statue of an own bedecked in military regalia. He was on clearance because the middle of what would have been either a monocle or a watch was missing....

Thanks a million for these, I'm a digital montage artist and a self portrait video maker, I've put the pic I used the watch faces here on my site http://www.jemraid.co.uk/ Cheers - Jem I am going to turn this and other pics in the sequence into a short video I'll post the link here when I've finished it (I do change the pic often but usually keep them there for about a month)

  29. I used your pictures to create a watch face at https://facerepo.com/app/faces/details/epbot-standard-usa-15e2ff2941c for my Smartwatch. Thank you so much! I've been looking for something like these. I love the worn look and classic style.
